Pictures from Commodore's Visit Page 1 - Commodore
Olliverre & "Bluff"
Commodore & Mrs. Fortenbaugh had the great honor of meeting Sir James Mitchell at the Frangipani Hotel. Sir Mitchell was the founder of the Bequia Easter Regatta and a great supporter of sailing and tourism in the Grenadines. He has written a fabulous autobiography entitled "Beyond the Islands" which is available for sale at the bookstore and hotel on the island.
There are many sizes of double-enders. Our team will compete in the largest class, the 28-footers. But throughout Bequia, you will see smaller double-enders as well which are used for fishing. These smaller double-enders are considered more lively and more likely to tip over! If the Bequia Easter Regatta becomes a tradition for our club, it is possible that some of our most experienced sailors could try to compete in these smaller double-enders over time. Below are pictures of some of the smaller double enders which were around the island.
