Clubhouse Members
The club began working on the concept of a
floating clubhouse in the harbor in 2000. In 2001,
discussions began with Sparkman & Stephens about getting their support to design
a clubhouse. Then 9/11 happened.
In the aftermath, some members
had the determination to push forward. You can read more
background here.
When the decision was made to
try to press forward, the club asked members to step forward and subscribe to
$1,000 "Clubhouse Bonds."
In the end, 76 members
contributed, almost 1/4 of the sailing club at the time (after 9/11, membership
in the club dropped into the 300s).
