Amy Johnstone

I was born into a sailing family and grew up in a small coastal town called the Central Coast just north of Sydney, Australia. Weekends and holidays were spent on the water at the local sailing club sailing Sabots and Lasers. I then converted to multihulls, where I have spent most of my sailing career focused on Hobie Cat Catamarans.

During my sailing career I won two World Titles in the 18ft Hobie Cat Catamaran division, secured a Masters certification with the Australian Yachting Federation and had the opportunity to teach at a number of sailing schools, both in Australia and oversees.

When I wasn’t on the water I was working at Westfield, Australia’s largest Shopping Centre Group. I spent 10 years working in the Marketing Department of various properties. During this time I studied business at the University of Newcastle and found some time on the weekends to sail a variety of boats on Sydney Harbor.

Sailing has given me the chance to travel the world, meet amazing lifelong friends, and the opportunity to compete with the best in various events in Europe and the Middle East.  I have now hit the waterfront in Manhattan and I am looking forward to an amazing 2008 sailing season!
