David Caporale

Currently the Manhattan Sailing School Director. I grew up on the Great South Bay of Long Island. Learned to sail PHRF while racing cruising boats with the South Bay Cruising club. I have raced many boats for example: Holland design 46, J27, C&C 40, Tanzer 22, Cape Dory Typhoon, DB1, Olsen 30 and I currently own a C&C 25 that I race and cruise. I have raced in most of the major regattas in the tri-state area since 1971.

Some of my fondest memories are coming to NY Harbor and racing in the former Governors Cup and Stars and Stripes Regattas. We always did well and took advantage of the beautiful sailing that NY harbor has to offer.

I have the fortune after working in media for 25 years to take my business experience and marry it with my passion which is sailing.

I look forward to running the school and helping people learn sailing and at the same time promoting sailing in the one of the most special places in the world!
