Volunteer to be a Fleet Captain Skipper
If you are a Skipper member of the club, we need your help! Every year, the Fleet
Captain Program has been growing. This is a great way to meet other members and have
fun. Please volunteer as a Fleet Captain skipper.
As a skipper, you will find that the Fleet Captain Program is a time-efficient way to
gather a crew. Rather than spending your time calling other members or friends to
see who is available to go sailing, you can make one call to the office. Just say
you will skipper a Fleet Captain boat. The club will then assign you a crew of other
members.
When you arrive at the dock, your boat and crew assignment should be posted on the
bulletin board. If not, check with the dock master.
One nice thing you will discover about the Fleet Captain Program is that your crew will
be eager sailors. Normally, the crew will actively help you rig and derig the boat.
They might need a little instruction on how to tie a bowline, but for the most
part, participants will be eager to learn and to discover the way you sail and your
sailing tricks.
If you like to teach, your are encouraged to use Fleet Captain sails as an educational
forum to pass on knowledge to other members.
And on of the best perks of being a Fleet Captain happens back at the clubhouse after
sailing were gratified crew members often buy their skippers a drink.
