Mentoring Program
A Mentor's Manual (PDF 104KB) Hello, I am Doug Moy. Commodore Michael Fortenbaugh asked me to oversee the Mentor Program for the Manhattan Sailing Club. The Mentoring Program is run by members for members. More information about this great program is included in A Mentor's Manual (PDF) The goal of the program is to assist members in evaluating their sailing skills and to train sailors for the Skipper Certification Test.
Club Mentors
involved in this program are volunteer skippers
who offer their time and expertise to
help other members gain knowledge and improve.
By working together, we can all become better.
We help prepare members to be Skippers. The more Skippers we have, the more members go sailing. The more sailors we have, the more sailing will happen, and more sail related programs and functions will happen in the future.
Since this is a voluntary program of members
helping out other members, we ask that you sign up and provide a weekly time
slot that you can commit to, in order to compare members and mentors
schedules. The Member Services coordinator of the club will provide the
initial contact for an evaluation sail. Afterward, your mentor and you will
discuss your skill level and set a course for accomplishing your goal of
testing for your Skipper's rating with the Manhattan Sailing Club.
May the best of luck and sailing hopes
support your quest.
