The club's dinghy sailing program will start on Saturdays and Sundays this summer.  There will be a morning and afternoon session every day.

Mornings are for beginners and practice sailing.  For the morning session, you must arrive at North Cove before 9:15 am to catch the launch.

Afternoons are for intermediate and advanced sailors and racing.  For the afternoon, you must arrive at North Cove before 12:30 pm to catch the launch.

All beginning dinghy sailors should start on Sunfish.  You can sail the Sunfish with 1 or 2 people.  Once you master the Sunfish and demonstrate your ability to right a capsized boat, then you can advanced to the Laser if you wish.  There will be racing for both Sunfish and Laser classes.

For safety, you must bring:
1) your own lifejacket (inflatable life jackets are not acceptable for obvious reasons).
2) whistle on your life jacket to produce a sound.

It is recommended you also bring:
1) VHF radio to tie up in your cockpit
2) fluids and water to stay hydrated
3) hat and sunscreen to protect you from sun
4) sailing gloves

The club currently has 8 Lasers and 10 Sunfish (only 6 set up for first weekend)

Costs:

For 2010, dinghy sailing will be free to members.  However, transportation to and from the dinghy docks will be provided by Big Toot which is owned and operated by Project City Kids.  Dinghy sailors will have to contribute a $10 round-trip launch fee to PCK.   Members will be responsible for any lost equipment. You must take extra care when rigging and unrigging the boats.  Special care should be given to the rudder which sink and cost more than $300!

Make A Reservation

Reservation policy: This is a member-only program.  No guests are permitted.  Once you make a reservation, your name will appear on the club reservation page usually within 24 hours.  You may have only 1 dinghy reservation on the books at a time.  To be fair to all members, please do not make a reservation unless you know you can absolutely make the sail.  While sailing is free, if you make a reservation and do not use it, then you will be charged a $25 fee by the club.  Changes to reservations will be accepted up to Thursday before each weekend.
