Questions & Answers Where is North Cove? North Cove is located in Lower Manhattan on the Hudson River. It's NYC's mega yacht marina and located directly in front of the World Financial Center. This waterfront community is known as Battery Park City. Wall Street is just a few blocks away. You can learn more about North Cove at www.TheNorthCove.com.
What's happening right now at North Cove? Check out the live webcam at www.myc.org/cam_north.htm Where should we stay in Manhattan? Anywhere you like! All New York is a taxi ride away. There are many, many choices for hotels in NYC, one for almost every style and price range. And the regatta will be August which is a slow business season in NYC. There should be plenty of deals available. You can start to look for hotels at NYC & Company's website (the official tourism website) www.nycvisit.com. Here are some local hotels starting with the most fancy: The Ritz Carlton - Battery Park - 2 West Street - 212-344-0800 - Nicest luxury hotel in Lower Manhattan. The top-of-the-line Ritz Carlton Suites are incredible with magnificent views of the harbor. Other rooms also beautiful and well appointed. Embassy Suites New York - 102 North End Ave- 212-945-0100 - Closest hotel, just a stone's throw from north side of marina. All rooms are suites. Comfortable. Only challenge is that world headquarters of Merrill Lynch & American Express are right next door and the hotel has been purchased by Goldman Sachs. So getting a room can be challenging during the week. New York Marriott Downtown - 83 West Street - 212-385-4900 - Very nice hotel usually with enough capacity to provide a room. Located on the opposite side of the West Side Highway so walk to and from the marina is not the most glamorous. Still, a very good choice, close and comfortable place to stay. Millenium Hilton - 55 Church Street - 212-693-2001 Cosmopolitan Hotel - 95 West Broadway - 212-566-1900 Club Quarters Downtown - 52 William St - (212) 269-6400 Holiday Inn Wall Street - 15 Gold St - 212-2327700 What to Expect from the Local Sailors The Manhattan Sailing club which is providing the fleet of J/24s for the competition is a relatively young club. It's primary focus is on sailing and introducing new people to this great sport. The club opened its new floating clubhouse in the harbor last summer which was the site of famous "Full Moon Parties." The members are mostly active people who work in all ranges of businesses and then who like to sail and have fun in their free time.
