by Michael W. Fortenbaugh, Commodore We are honored to have Dennis Conner as the patron of the International Yacht Club Challenge. His achievements in sailing have been a source of inspiration to sailors around the world. We hope the quality of competition and the spirit of the social events will make the Dennis Conner International Yacht Club Challenge a truly memorable experience for all participants. And with our floating clubhouse in the harbor, we know we can offer you million dollar views, especially after the sun sets. The first International Yacht Club Challenges were held between the years of 1988 to 1992. In those days, we had the privilege of working with Yacht Club de Monaco, one of the grandest clubs in the world. Those international gatherings were great fun and fostered a unique friendships which last through today. We are a relatively young and small club. We were founded in 1987 and have just over 800 members. Our members are mostly active professionals who like to have fun. We are an inclusive organization which is trying to share the joy of sailing with more people. More information about Manhattan Sailing Club is at www.myc.org.
