Conner International Yacht Club Challenge The goal of the Dennis Conner International Yacht Club Challenge is to create international goodwill through friendly competition. In addition to the five days of racing, there will be five evenings of social events. Tuesday, August 19, 2008 Champagne toast at the Statue of Liberty. Please let us know when your team first arrives at the sailing club docks (on Sunday, Monday or Tuesday). We will invite you to hope on a powerboat and motor out to see the Statue of Liberty, pop a bottle of champagne and toast your New York City experience. These powerboat rides must be scheduled in advance and the limit on the powerboat is 8 people. Welcoming Party on the Floating Clubhouse in the Harbor - 1730-2100 We suggest you catch the 5:15 or 5:45 p.m. launch. Cash bar. America BBQ Buffet Dinner - $15 per person (pay at the buffet table), featuring pulled pork, BBQ chicken, macaroni & cheese, corn bread, cole slaw. During dinner, teams can watch the club fleet compete in the regular Tuesday evening racing series. All teams will be introduced and have an opportunity to say a few words at approximately 7:30 p.m. No tickets are needed for this event. It is first come first served. The harbor clubhouse holds a maximum of 150 people. We encourage visiting teams to catch the early launches. The first launch departs at 5:15 and then 5:45, 6:15 etc. If many people decide to attend this event and the clubhouse reaches capacity, then people have to wait at dock until some people leave the harbor clubhouse. Wednesday, August 20, 2008 Dinner on the Esplanade at Steamers Landing. 1830 - 2030 All American Buffet Dinner - Price $40 per person, plus cash bar. Corn and Clam Chowder, Spicy Wings with Blue Cheese, Hot Dogs, Chili to make chili dogs, Hamburgers, Tomato, black olive and onions, Yukon Gold Potato Salad, Cole Slaw, Jersey Corn on the Cob, Table of Brownies and Cookies and Apple Crisp This dinner will be held at Steamer's Landing Restaurant on the esplanade just south of North Cove. While having dinner in this outdoor setting, you will be able to look out over the harbor, see boats pass by and watch the club racers come in after their evening races. Thursday, August 21, 2008 Skyline Party - 6 - 11 p.m. on the Clubhouse in the Harbor. The launch runs back and forth every 1/2 hour. Come have some fun. $5 launch fee and cash bar. No tickets are needed for this event. It is first come first served. The harbor clubhouse holds a maximum of 150 people. We encourage visiting teams to catch the early launches. Picnic dinners will be available onboard for $15 each.

Sailors test their skills at the world famous body shot. Friday, August 22, 2008 Friendship Dinner - 7:30 p.m. at Les Halles Downtown on John St just east of Broadway. Steak or chicken dinner. $45 per person includes salad, main course and dessert. Wine, beer & drinks additional. Tickets must be purchased in advance.
Saturday, August 23, 2008 Awards Ceremony - 1600 awards ceremony at the docks. Dinner - teams can get dinner where they like this evening and then meet after dinner for the Closing Ceremony & Champagne Celebration. Closing Ceremony & Champagne Celebration- 8 p.m. to midnight at the Bubble Lounge, open to all NYC sailing enthusiasts. Cash bar. Drink champagne until your dollars run out. Will be crowded event. If too crowded, you can step outside for some fresh air. Lots of energy and fun.
