Dennis
Conner International Yacht Club Challenge Member volunteers are needed to serve on the Pit Crew for the Dennis Conner International Yacht Club Challenge. We are the people behind the scenes who keep all the boats running, make the repairs, provide the fuel and spare parts. We are named the "Pit Crew" because we do our work like an Indy Racing Team. The Pit Crew gathers every morning at 10 a.m. to guide teams to their boats and to answer questions or address any concerns of the racers. During the races, we ride on the small red dinghies and oversee the boat rotation and make repairs as needed during the day. Our greatest moments come when we zoom up to a boat, make the repair and step off within 2 or 3 minutes. At the end of every day, we go through the boats, fuel up, fix anything needed and button up the fleet so that it is 100% ready to sail next morning. The Pit Crew is rewarded each day with a special cooler of iced beer (of the highest quality, special requests honored in double) which remains locked. While we clean, organize and repair the fleet after each day, our beer gets colder and colder. Once all boats are checked out and approved for sailing, then we open the lock and get a great reward, available only to the Pit Crew. I would like to volunteer for the Pit Crew: Pit Crew Schedule
