As a Regular member, you can
sail on the club fleet as a crew. We encourage you to meet other members,
exchange emails and communicate for sailing opportunities.
In addition, you can
participate in the popular Fleet Captain Program.
Skipper members volunteer to take a boat sailing and crew are assigned in
order of registration. This is a good way for new members to get sailing
right away and meet other members.
It
helps when you make your reservations 3 or more days in advance. The sooner you
make your reservation the better. However all reservations must be placed at
least 24 hours in advance.
Weekend sails are in high demand. If you sail Friday and make a reservation
late Friday night, we may not be able to process it time. Please look at the
reservations page before placing a reservation. Sometimes there are too many
crew, sometimes too many skippers. Please look first.
Follow up:
If you make a Fleet Captain reservation, please check back to make sure your
name appears on the list and that a skipper has volunteered.
Timeliness and Reliability: All crew members should arrive at least 15 minutes
before their schedule sail and check in with the dockmaster. Once you
are assigned to a boat, please do your skipper the courtesy of rigging and
unrigging the boat. This way, the skipper has a great time and will volunteer
again.
Please note:
Fleet Captain is a Members Only Program. No guests allowed.
If you have a guest who you wish to take sailing and you do not have Skipper
privileges, please speak to a skipper you know directly and ask them to take you
and your guest sailing outside of the Fleet Captain Program.
Fleet
Captain Sail Cancellation Policy
A five dollar charge will be assessed to
any member who signs up for a Fleet Captain sail
but does not show up without canceling the reservation. A member that does
not show up takes an opportunity to sail from another member
and inconveniences fellow crew. Cancellation can be made by sending an email
to Dockmaster@myc.org or by calling
the club on (212) 786 3323.
- Cancellations for morning and afternoon
sails must be received before 4:00pm on the day before.
- Cancellations for evening sails must be
received before noon of the same day.
Cancellations will not be required if it is
actually raining at North Cove in the three hours before the sail is
scheduled, though note that many skippers are willing to sail in rain,
provided it is not a thunderstorm, and will still welcome crew.
